Reinventing sustainable transportation

The Power Plus is a novel transmission that uses electro-hydraulic elements to multiply torque, resulting in an overall increase in horsepower. It enables particularly small motors like the mild hybrid system recently introduced in the automotive industry to run on pure electric mode in larger vehicles. It’s an engineering marvel that can make a 48V motor to produce enough power to match a 400V system.

Electric vehicles are expensive to produce largely because EV batteries and electric motors are expensive, accounting for 33% and 10% of the total production costs of electric cars respectively. The Power Plus is astonishingly cost-effective to make. Moreover, it will downscale the battery and motor to just 48V system, and thereby reduce the EV production costs in a remarkably way.
It will also open up the broader world of EVs by making it possible to break the distance barrier that has always been a drawback for these vehicles. Smaller drivetrain system will mean bigger energy storage. The Power Plus will thus pioneer the delivery of the cheapest electric cars in production available with operating ranges that rival, and surpass, conventionally fuelled cars.

Vehicle Integration

Vehicles that are equipped with the Power Plus will not only improve efficiency, but the compact size of the drivetrain will allow different configurations and improved packaging.

In a longitudinal motor layout, the Power Plus is positioned in between the motor and the transmission. Its function is to increase the horsepower of the motor, and feed that power to a conventional transmission, which transmits power to the wheels.

Alleviate grid stress

With the conventional EV technology, EVs might stress the already strained grid if they are fully deployed. Before the arrival of a Maci Power Plus, the world was hoping that battery technology would improve in the distant future to help the electrical grid handle the stress of electric vehicles entering the market. The Power Plus has provided the solution much sooner than anyone had expected. It will help reduce energy consumption during charging and so directly alleviate grid stress.
